Disney's All Star Resort Part 2

When we arrived at WDW, we weren't sure what to expect from this resort. I have only ever stayed at Moderate resorts. I was worried that this hotel would not live up to my expectations. I changed my mind as soon as we pulled into the parking lot.

As we drove through the Resort area we could see All Star Music and Sports first, the Movies resort was in the back. We arrived at Cinema Hall at about 2pm, check in only took about 15 minutes. We grabbed our welcome packet and went directly to our hotel room. As we came to our area of the Resort, I realized we were lucky enough to get the Toy Story section. My son Gavin was in awe over the massive Buzz Lightyear and the green army men on top of the building.

Once we arrived in our room, i noticed it was a little small. The room had double beds, a dresser/tv stand, a vanity area outside the bathroom, and a small bathroom with a shower/tub. The room was decorated with star lights mounted on the wall above the beds, the bedding was in theme with the resort donning the Mighty Ducks, Cruella De vil, and much more.

We went exploring the area once we were done putting our clothes away. There was a playground area near our room, a laundry mat was by the Fantasia pool, near Cinema Hall there was Silver Screen Spirits Bar,we checked out the other themed areas and took many pictures.

We ate many times at the World Premier Food Court, and the food was delicious. We had the Dining plan so we took advantage of having a close Counter service meal. One time we bought ice cream sundaes from there for our snack. These were well worth the money. They were huge!! None of us could finish them and you could add pretty much whatever you pleased on them.

Transportation time for the buses was rather slow. Because we had to stop at All Star Music and Sports to pick up those guests it took a longer time than some of the other resorts. One good thing is that these resorts are very close to the Animal Kingdom so you won't be spending as much time on the bus to go there.

Overall, this resort was wonderful. It fit our needs and didn't break the bank. The rooms were on the small side, but we really didn't spend that much time in the room, so it didn't bother me. A major plus to staying at a Value Resort is being on property and experiencing the magic the whole vacation. We will most likely stay at this resort again and I highly recommend it to anyone with small children!

Autism on the Seas

.

Pixie Vacations is now working with Autism on the Seas.

This program is a free service which goes the extra mile for autistic passengers. I was made aware of this service through my sister-in-law and her husband. They have a 6 year old son who is autistic, and another sister-in-law has a 9 year old daughter who is autistic- so these are things we want to keep in mind as we plan a family reunion. This will make the trip easier for the kids, as well as the parents if we have these services.

They arrange for all your needs: diet, dinner seating, priority boarding and disembarkation, extra assistance at pier, and any special equipment needed.

You may opt to cruise on one of their group cruises which are set up dates, otherwise you can go on your own schedule and have some of these extras for your family.

They work with many different cruise lines- Royal Caribbean, Disney, Norwegian, Celebrity and Carnival.

These services are specific to Royal Caribbean and Carnival:

* Autism awareness cruise staff
* Special nametags
* Service animal needs
* Pre-cruise questionnaire so they can make sure they have all needs covered
* Cruise PECS
* Social story- printable pages to share with your family member what will happen and what to expect
* Private muster drill area
* Special gifts
* Exemption from dinner dress codes
* Any other special requests made at time of booking

How to book:
If you are interested in this service, I can help you get your booking and deposit set up (group or individual), then I will contact Autism on the Seas for their services once we have a confirmation number. As long as you haven't applied full payment, Autism on the Seas is happy to take your request.

Grand Gatherings at Disney

I have traveled to Disney World with my family as a child, my friends, my husband, my husband and children and with the entire rest of our family which usually consists of approximately 25 people. When my family travels as a large group we always set up a Grand Gathering. Sure you could just call your travel agent and book a room, but there are several things you would be missing out on.

For instance, when you book rooms as a Grand Gathering, Disney gives some preferences in trying to keep you as close together as possible within your hotel. Now if you are with your entire family some of you may not want to be so close as you will be with them all day and may want to get away from them, but at the end of the day, it is nice when you can be around each other for the whole experience.

The other great thing about being a Grand Gathering is that when you book your dining reservations and place them under your Grand Gathering number they will do everything they can to keep you together in the restaurant. I do suggest with a Grand Gathering that if you are making dinning reservations you do so at the 180 day mark if you can – it will be easier to book the reservations together. Not that you will not be able to do after that time, it is just easier.

I have planned Grand Gatherings for my family year after year and I find that if you make a tentative itinerary for each day while your there everyone has a place to start their day from, but usually will at least meet up later on for a nice sit down dinner and finish out the night together. Also, this makes it easier for people to meet up during different points in the day.

The last thing that many people do not realize is that there are Grand Gathering Experiences available at Disney World. As of today they are several different Grand Gathering Experiences available, they are: Good Morning Character Breakfast in the Magic Kingdom at Tony’s Town Square Restaurant; Safari Celebration Dinner in the Animal Kingdom for an end of day tour of the safari and then dinner in the Tusker House Restaurant; and International Dinner & Illuminations Dessert Reception in Epcot for dinner family style and musical entertainment and storytelling activities and after all of that you are escorted to a reserved lagoon area to view Illuminations and enjoy a dessert buffet. There are extra charges per person for these experiences, but as a group you can enjoy something exciting and new.

So which way is better, just booking a room or booking as a Grand Gathering? Well there is no extra cost to book as a Grand Gathering so the benefits are that they will always try to keep you together in your hotel and dining. In addition, you open yourself up to try some new experiences that you might have otherwise missed.

While it can be complex to plan a Grand Gathering, having the right agent handle all of the details for you will make it that much simpler so that you can enjoy your Grand Gathering stress free with no extra cost to you.

Not sure if your group is the right size to be considered a Grand Gathering? As long as you are a party of 8 or more ages 3 and up you would qualify.
